Mark graduated with a degree in Media, Film & Creative writing, before joining TAPS – an organisation that trained screenwriters for film and television, based out of Shepperton Film Studios.
He’s since worked in film and video production as a writer, producer and director or corporate and commercial content, as well as making his own short films which have screened at many festivals, including Aesthetica, HollyShorts, and the Leeds International Film Festival.
Mark is also the director of the Exit 6 Film Festival, an annual showcase of short films that’s been an ever-present on FilmFreeway’s Top 100 Best Reviewed Film Festivals list. As such, Mark’s experience as a filmmaker and a festival director gives him a unique insight into both sides of the film festival circuit.
He also fulfils the role of Operations Manager at Genera Films, a short film funding company that has supported more than 40 projects with over £250,000 of funding since 2017. The company has now launched a new online membership platform for showcasing short films and connecting members to each other, as well as the industry.
