This is a story about peripheral places and the people who live there. Peripheral, because in modern western culture no place can really be ‘outside of’, no person can truly ‘escape from’. Society likes to label people on its periphery as ‘marginalised’ but this ignores the role of choice in their lives. In my experience these people are central.
